5 Good Reasons To Find Your “Why”

When I was young, I wondered, like all kids do (and adults too), what’s the meaning of my life? Why am I on this earth? I have found my “why.” Now let me share with you why you should find yours.

Finding your purpose can be a powerful thing and it goes beyond the satisfaction of knowing you’re doing something worthwhile. Let’s take a look at five good reasons to spend time finding your “why”.

You’ll Lower Your Stress

How much worry and mental energy do you spend figuring out what you should or could be doing each day? When your “why” is clear in your mind, you’ll know the big rocks to accomplish daily and will be less stressed about what you “should” be doing.

But its even more than that! When we aren’t following our passion and purpose, we are unhappy with the tasks we are spending time on and this leads to added stress.

You’ll Get More Done

You know the saying, “Time flies when you’re having fun?” Well, when you aren’t having fun, time slows to a crawl. I’m sure you’ve noticed this in your daily life. When you’re working on something you enjoy or something that’s important to you, the work almost seems to do itself. You don’t even notice how much time or how hard you’ve been at it.

You’ll Do A Better Job

Not only will you finish tasks faster, you’ll spend time learning more so you can become a master at what you love to do. As you learn more and apply it to your work, you’ll find you’re doing a much better job overall.

As I shared in my post, Getting in the Flow, when we are passionate about something, we can reach higher levels of achievement and happiness.

You’ll Feel Better About Yourself

There’s nothing better to lift your mood and boost your self-esteem than doing some good in the world. As I shared in the post, “How Discovering Your Purpose Can Make You Happy,” once you discover your true purpose, you’ll have an internal reward built in. This reward works whether others know about the good you are doing or not. This reward is an increase in our feeling of self-worth.

You’ll Be Happier

All of this leads to one all-important end result. You’ll be happier. You’ll be more fulfilled with what you do and live a more content life. And isn’t that something we’re all striving towards?

What’s your “why?” Are you living a purpose-filled life? We’d love to hear about it!
