6 Benefits of Living a Purposeful Life

Now that I am beginning another new phase in my career, I decided to review my life’s purpose. I know that although I love what I do as a Learning and Development Executive, I am even more than that title and that role. My life’s purpose is multi-fold. It encompasses many roles that I play and want to play well.
So when you think about your own life and your own purpose, what does that mean for you? What roles do you play? What goals do you want to achieve?
Let’s face it. When crafting a life of meaning, one that is “spirit infused,” settling for ordinary is not an option. To have a life that brings you joy, excitement
Those gifts can sometimes come in the form of volunteering, hobbies, or a job. It can also come from the relationships we build with family, friends, coworkers, or others we come into contact with.
But regardless of the form the work takes, there are many benefits that can arise from discovering your life’s purpose and passions.
I believe you deserve a life less ordinary, one that is “spirit infused.” Here’s some benefits I have found by pursuing my life’s purpose in all my roles.
Personal Development
Clarifying what interests you and gives you purpose will motivate and empower you to gain new skills. You’ll find that you are inspired to learn and grow so that you can achieve the new or bigger goals you’ve set for yourself. Identifying your purpose is a powerful development tool in and of itself because by pursuing your passion, you will find the opportunity to grow and develop as a person.
Focus
Increased focus is one of the major benefits of following your passion and living a purposeful life. This is because you will have identified exactly what you want to achieve and how you will achieve it. Goal setting and planning will be invaluable tools and help you to focus on creating positive change in yourself and your life.

Along with motivation, living a purposeful life will increase your sense of happiness and well-being. Having goals and a reason to get up in the morning are very powerful tools which will help you feel a sense of direction, contribution, empowerment, and joy. These positive feelings contribute deeply to your overall feeling of happiness and contentment.
Improved Health
As you take positive actions each day towards the fulfillment of your purpose, you will begin to notice that you feel more content and that your stress and anxiety levels reduce. By focusing on your passions, you will discover that you want to take better care of yourself and your health so that you can continue working towards your goals and achieving the life you dream of. Moreover, research studies have shown that if you have a purpose for your life, you can live longer.
Self-Knowledge
Living a life of purpose and passion helps you to grow as a person. It will open doors to interests and networks that will stretch you mentally, emotionally and, possibly even, physically. As you follow these new paths you will discover more about yourself- your interests, dreams, and desires. And as you do, you can’t help but grow in all these areas as well.
