Doing vs Being

Doing vs being

As leaders or business owners, the need to keep do, do, doing sometimes overrides the need to be. How often have we heard that often to succeed you need to slow down and take time to see where you are heading or you could be going in the wrong direction.

I feel you. I too tend to be a “doer” and not a “be-er.” But so many times over the years, I have realized that doing without the balance of being will actually force me to go backwards.

I find myself taking on tasks, roles, or jobs that aren’t a fit because I hadn’t clearly defined who I am in the world. I kept doing instead of being.

And this “being” thing? It’s not a one time event. You can’t go on a week long retreat or spend a month meditating every morning, come up with the big ah-ha and that’s it. This being thing must become a habit.

It’s the only way that your life can be infused with your unique spirit and that you can be sure that you are heading in the right direction when you are “doing.” This doesn’t mean you never take action again.

It’s like you’ve heard before. It’s about “inspired” action. Are you in alignment with your deep and meaningful purpose in the world? Are you living out of your mission and values? Are you listening to that small inner voice that requires you to be quiet to hear so you can reach your highest purpose?

If not, it’s time to make sure you are taking time to “be” and not just “do.”

May you manifest the life you deserve by choosing to infuse your life with your own unique spirit!
